Dancesport is the term dancers use that describes competition dancing or performing in shows and exhibitions. This would be a flashy dancer who dances a series of steps and moves that are called a routine. This dancing is the type of dancing you see on Dancing with the Stars.

This type of dancing is taught on private lessons and is physically more demanding than social dancing. The instruction is geared specifically for the individual or couple, it will highlight their strengths so that they will stand out from everyone else on the dance floor.
